IEMTA has written a letter to HIQA highlighting the concerns we have for the safety of our patients in relation to the continuous overcrowding in Irish EDs. We know from medical research that Emergency Department overcrowding is linked with poor patient outcomes and higher mortality rates.
We call on the government and the HSE to implement the recommendations of the 2012 HIQA Tallaght hospital report.

We’re looking for some volunteers (Looking at the SpRs! 🙂 to write a brief paragraph outlining what they’ve done in their training so far – e.g. what jobs they’ve worked, did they work abroad, take time out to do research etc. Nothing major, just something short so that new EM docs can see the wide range of options available to them in Emergency Medicine!
Any volunteers, feel free to get in touch! – Andrew
